What Began As An Antidote To Insomnia Blossomed Into This

How is your relationship with discomfort? Many years ago, I had quite an aversion to any kind of discomfort, whether it be emotional or physical in nature.

5 years ago I was working with an Occupational Therapist to help me navigate a musculoskeletal condition that was wreaking havoc on my daily existence.

This condition decreased the range of motion in my upper body and turning my head became extremely difficult, which absolutely made driving unsafe and scary. I had to make major accommodations to navigate this new version of my reality. I even had to work from home since driving was not an option.

This physical manifestation made me physically uncomfortable and emotionally very very sad, anxious, and depressed.

This was definitely putting a damper on my life, not to mention the loss of control it presented.

Sleeping has not always come easy for me, and the chronic muscle stiffness and fatigue plus the emotionally draining state I found myself in, created a perfect storm that resulted in severe insomnia.

Not only could I not get comfortable to sleep, my mind was off to the races every time I laid my head on the pillow. Why is this happening? Why won’t this just go away? Why me? Yada Yada Yada

Since I am a solution seeker and open to all possibilities, I listened to the suggestion of my Occupational Therapist to try Insight Timer, a free meditation app.

It was on Insight Timer that I stumbled upon this thing called Yoga Nidra. An ancient yoga practice from the Tantric lineage that provides systematic relaxation for the entire body.

It was the bee's knees for my insomnia. Not only was I finally able to sleep, it provided so much more than that.

It was the catalyst for a transformational spiritual experience that completely changed how I view myself and the world. It helped me embody a feeling of wholeness.

Today my musculoskeletal condition is much better and sleep is a joy and I can drive again! As a bonus, I have been recalling my dreams for many years and with the addition of a regular Yoga Nidra practice, I always come away with divine wisdom that supports my life purpose.

This is a FULL CIRCLE moment for me. As of today, my first Yoga Nidra practice is available on the app that gave me my life back all those years ago.

To be able to share this life affirming practice brings me immense JOY and DELIGHT.
